Alumni

The Department of History is proud of its association with the Virginia Tech Alumni Association and welcomes visits, communications, and continuing support for the study of history at Virginia Tech. We began in 2000 the process of constituting an Alumni/ae Board to advise us on the future direction of the department and on fund-raising. Sensitive to the need for a representative and balanced board, we invited eleven diverse and colorful history alums and friends (see Alumni Board) to serve for three-year terms. At our inaugural meeting in November of 2002, History faculty gave presentations showcasing the exciting application of technology to the study and teaching of history. A working breakfast session the next day led to helpful suggestions about fund-raising strategies. The activities were capped off by attending a Virginia Tech football game. A second meeting of the History Alumni/ae Advisory Board is scheduled for Spring 2004.

To our faithful alumni and alumnae, if you are interested in becoming a member of the Department of History Alumni/ae Advisory Board, please contact Daniel Thorp at wachau@.edu.
